From Tennis To Social Media. Yes, there is a connection
Mike Shiplett is a southern Californian living in Palm Springs, and is a well-known tennis instructor across the valley. His skills in social media have been somewhat of a secret among a select few, and that secret is now burgeoning into a full-fledged shout out.
“As a tennis instructor I have the pleasure of working with all kinds of clients in a very social setting and that’s helped me really get to know people and how to work with them to get the best out of them,” says Mike. “As an instructor and coach I know how to motivate people, how to keep them consistent and focused on a task and engaged in the lesson, all while having fun at the same time.”
It’s those skills that Mike demonstrates on the court which helps him create engaging, influential content off the court. “It’s really the same skill set, just applied in a different venue, says Mike. “Managing my social network, gaining referrals and developing relationships with clients over the years has really helped me learn how to nurture relationships and engagement through social media.”
Mike’s interest in social media goes all the way back to the early days of MySpace and has stayed with him over the decades through the advent of today’s social media platforms. He understands why and how social media has become an intricate part of our world and culture. “Today there are so many divisions and options within the social media and the industry shifts and adjusts so quickly. It’s an exciting and dynamic climate!”
When he isn’t on the court or researching a topic to create dialog or content, Mike can be found socializing around the Coachella valley, exploring the culture scene in Los Angeles, or surfing — and wiping out! — on the beaches of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Malibu.
