Keisha Musical Scholarship, Palm Springs California
Palm Springs #1 entertainer, Keisha D, has long been a fan favorite and a large draw. Her performing career has transcended pop, rock, opera, jazz. Her influence in the desert communities has been paramount in helping schools educate children in the performing arts.
The Palm Springs Unified School District established a music scholarship on behalf of her name and growing legend in Palm Springs. Each year, the Keisha D Musical Scholarship awards one student with the musical instrument of their passion. Cultivating creativity and talent is the criteria.
When Keisha D wanted to drive attention to the scholarship, she approached “Likes!” and Mike Shiplett. The goal was fundraising, but with a community twist that would appeal to anyone surfing Facebook.
Mike took Keisha’s musical presence and crafted a campaign centered on going out and using your talent – just like Keisha did. Photos and videos of Keisha performing, and living her dreams of performing, were used to inspire and educate.
As a result of the campaign efforts, Keisha D’s fan base flooded the page and increased the number of Likes and comments, and most importantly, the donations to the school board.
As a non-profit, we rely on “Likes!” to get us a broad, visible out-reach through social media accounts in order to keep an energetic and interactive donation campaign. Mike is amazing with conveying the passion that we feel concerning our mission to our new potential donors, who provide the funds to keep propelling the Palm Springs Unified School District Keisha D Musical Scholarship. Our vision is to enhance a young person’s journey into the art of performing music.
